Intent, Limiting Beliefs and Your New Year

Intent, Limiting Beliefs and Your New Year

Here we are at the end of another year. It’s a great time to take a moment and reflect on the past year, and the lessons you’ve learned. Take what you’ve learned from the many challenges you’ve faced and use that knowledge to help you align your life and choices with the true desires of your heart, for the coming year.

Let’s dive a little deeper here to help you prepare your heart and mind for the coming year by going directly to all the limiting beliefs that lurk behind those goals you’ve so carefully chosen, planned and talked about.

Ask Yourself...

  • Do I feel worthy of having my desires?

  • What is my intent for pursuing this desire?

  • Is it for myself or others?

  • What desires do I have that might conflict with my current goals?

Face Limiting Beliefs - Take Responsibility

  • How am I preventing the fulfillment of my desires?

  • When and how did I learn to think and feel this way about myself and my life?

  • Am I ready to let go of my limiting beliefs and bad habits if it means letting go of what I think I know and accepting being wrong?

  • Do I fear that if I’m wrong, I’ll be hurt and rejected?

Why is it so hard to see these limiting beliefs when they are right there in front of your face?  Denial comes when you don’t want to face the truth of yourself and your life. If you fear to be wrong to the point that you disassociate from the truth, you become blind to reality because you believe that if your wrong you will then be hurt or rejected, it’s is a powerful fear that holds you back from living your best life, by blinding you to the truth. Being who you are and going after what you want no longer has appeal, your very desires become something that you fear, for the journey that leads to there fulfillment requires you to accept being wrong for you to gain the knowledge needed.  Allowing yourself to be distracted by this fear leads to a dead-end of all your hopes and dreams. Getting too busy, being consumed by fulfilling what you feel is expected of you, living joyfully only in fleeting moments… are huge red flags, reflective of pleasure, not true happiness. Don’t let the real joys of life pass you by. Breaking out of this fear takes action.

Symbolic Actions

  • Be honest with yourself and others.

  • Take time to listen to yourself.

  • Love yourself enough to commit to action toward your desires.

  • Be with people who love and listen to you.

  • Realize that things lost in the pursuit of your genuine desires purify your life and mind.

For the New Year and the change you desire to be meaningful—be open to, embrace, and go after the desires of your heart in allowing yourself to be wrong, without the assumption that you will be hurt/rejected for it. Then you will be giving from your heart.  This can cause a ripple effect for generations. Take action in some small way that will help you to begin to break through the facade of fear found in these limiting beliefs being real in the first place.  Limiting beliefs are man-made.  They are not who or what we intrinsically are.
